Une sculpture de George Minne pour le Metropolitan Museum

6/7/19 - Acquisition - New York Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art a acheté une sculpture de George Minne à la Galerie Eric Gillis à l’occasion de la TEFAF de Maastricht en mars dernier. Ce Petit agenouillé rejoint une autre œuvre du symboliste belge dans les collections : les Saintes Femmes au tombeau.
L’œuvre avait appartenu au banquier et collectionneur Adolphe Stoclet, qui chargea Josef Hoffmann de construire un hôtel particulier à Bruxelles entre 1905 et 1911 ; le palais Stoclet est une œuvre d’art total dont la décoration fut notamment réalisée par Gustav Klimt et Koloman Moser.
