7/9/19 - Acquisition - Londres, Foundling Museum - Thomas Coram se démena pour créer un lieu destiné à recueillir les enfants abandonnés. Il réussit à contourner les obstacles en s’adressant aux femmes de l’aristocratie anglaise, leur demandant de signer une pétition qui fut présentée au roi George II en 1735. Et le Foundling Hospital fut finalement fondé à Londres en 1739. Thomas Coram mit plusieurs années à recueillir ces signatures, et Margaret Bentinck, duchesse de Portland fut la dernière à apposer la sienne.
