The Louvre buys a drawing by Jacques Bellange

15/4/24 - Acquisition - Paris, Musée du Louvre - This is certainly one of the most beautiful sheets by Jacques Bellange to reappear on the market in recent years, and we mentioned it in article on the Christie’s sale on 20 March 2024. The Musée du Louvre wisely exercised its right of preemption to snatch it back at the last minute from the winning bidder, who had nonetheless won it after a bidding battle that went up to €252,000 (including costs) for a very modest estimate of €30-50,000.
