Two new tapestries for Houston

1/6/26 - Acquisitions - Houston, The Museum of Fine Arts - Decidedly keen to enrich its decorative arts collections, the Texan institution succeeded in acquiring — in quick succession — two fine historic tapestries that appeared on the Paris art market. Carefully selected and studied with the expertise for which De Wit is renowned, they were displayed in Maastricht, where the first (ill. 1) was shown in 2022 and again in 2023, when it was noticed by representatives of the North American museum, who subsequently acquired it.
