Two drawings for the Musée de la Marine

26/3/24 - Acquisitions - Paris, Musée de la Marine - Full of life, these two large sheets greeted visitors to the exhibition organised by Artcurial ahead of last week’s sales (see news item of 18/3/24) and seemed so destined for the Musée de la Marine that we were surprised not to see an emissary from this institution rise to preempt them. Fortunately, the disappointment was short-lived, as the museum itself announced the purchase of the drawings, which were nevertheless sold in two separate lots, the first (ill. 1) fetching €32,000 at the hammer and the second (ill. 2) fetching €36,000 at the hammer [1] last Wednesday.
