Rouen buys a drawing by Ingres

22/5/24 - Acquisition - Rouen, Musée des Beaux-Arts - She liberated Orléans and was burnt in Rouen. The museums of Fine Arts in these two towns have in common that they devote a section of their collections to works of art linked to Joan of Arc. Rouen recently acquired a fine drawing by Ingres in preparation for the painting at the Louvre Joan of Arc at the Coronation of Charles VII (ill. 1). The work was exhibited on Ambroise Duchemin’s stand at the Salon du dessin, along with a group of sheets by the same artist.
