As part of preparations for an exhibition devoted to the rise of enamelled lava in the 19th century, the Musée Sahut wishes to collect and document the works and projects produced by Jacques Ignace Hittorff during his collaboration with Hachette & Cie, where he was director of production between 1834 and 1841.

I am particularly interested in enameled lava panels that may have been made based on Hittorff’s designs, especially pedestal tables, as well as any documents related to the design of these works. This research aims to shed light on Hittorff’s central role in promoting and industrialising the technique of enamelling on lava.

As part of my broader research, I would also be extremely grateful to anyone who could point me towards any 19th-century enamelled lava works, whether from the Hachette & Cie workshops (and successors) or other manufacturers.
