12/4/25 - Acquisition - Madrid, Museo del Prado - As important as he was as a leader of Catalan modernism, Ramón Casas did not appear until now in the collections of the Prado. A gap now filled thanks to the Fundación Amigos del Museo, which has offered him a portrait by the artist. Acquired in a private collection, this worldly effigy, of which Casas made a speciality, was intended for the Madrid museum, the model. Pablo Bosch, a Catalan entrepreneur, was in fact closely linked to its history, having been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Prado since its foundation in 1912 and having bequeathed ninety paintings as well as a large collection of medals and coins in 1916. This was one of the most important bequests received by the museum.

Ramón Casas (1866-1932)
