13/6/24 - Obituary A leading specialist in imperial history, Bernard Chevallier died on 10 June 2024. After studying history and art history at the Sorbonne, he served under Jean-Pierre Samoyault until 1980 at the Château de Fontainebleau, and under Gérard Hubert at the Château de Malmaison. After these years of training, he took charge of the Josephine estate as curator in 1989 (then chief curator three years later and director in 1997), never to leave the establishment marked by the memory of the imperial couple. His thesis was devoted to "Malmaison, the estate from its origins to 1904".
