A View of the Louvre returns to the museum

"A drawing we did not hesitate to describe as heritage-worthy", we wrote back in the summer of 2021 (see the news item of 9/6/21) when referring to a sheet (ill. 1) that seemed naturally destined for France’s public collections – more specifically, for the Louvre’s history “department” whose dynamism is in inverse proportion to its rooms, which have continued to shrink like a deflating balloon over the years. Fortunately, neither the museum nor one of its patrons overlooked its quality, and the latter ensured its acquisition for €44,800 including fees.
