A Salvator Rosa for the Uffizi

17/1/25 Acquisition - Florence, Galleria degli Uffizi - The most appalling detail in this monumental canvas, in which a fulminating, naked and wrinkled witch emerges, is undoubtedly the swaddled newborn baby lying in the dark background. This painting by Salvator Rosa, which deserves to be restored to reveal all its details, was purchased by the Uffizi Museum in Florence from the New York gallery Nicholas Hall [1].
