A pastel by Gad Frederik Clement acquired for the Pont-Aven Museum

5/3/25 - Acquisition - Pont-Aven, Musée de Pont-Aven - Gad Frederik Clement is certainly not the best known of Gauguin’s followers, especially in France where no institution has been able to exhibit his works until now. Thanks to the valiant Musée de Pont-Aven, whose quality of acquisitions we have repeatedly highlighted, a superb pastel (ill. 1) by the Danish artist has been added to the public collections. Purchased from Agnews Brussels, which exhibited it at TEFAF Maastricht in 2024, this acquisition benefited from the support of CIC Ouest - the museum’s official patron - as well as FRAM Bretagne, the State and the Region supporting Concarneau Cornouaille Agglomération (CCA), which oversees the institution with the relatively unique status of EPCI [1] Such a beautiful pastel justified…
