A painting by Sofonisba Anguissola for Stockholm

18/9/25 - Acquisition - Stockholm, Nationalmuseum - Museums are particularly pleased when they can enrich their collections with works from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries by women artists, who are naturally fewer in number than those active in the nineteenth century and later. Italian women in particular are enjoying a surge in popularity — Sofonisba Anguissola, Lavinia Fontana, and Artemisia Gentileschi, among others.
