A drawing by Jordaens returns to Antwerp

16/6/26 - Acquisition, Antwerp, Plantin–Moretus Museums - It is a large and very fine drawing by Jordaens (ill. 1) that has just joined the Antwerp collections, thanks to the Flemish government, which recently acquired it — for once, the price is public: €125,000 — from the Colnaghi gallery and placed it on deposit at the Museum Plantin-Moretus. It is already on display there and will remain visible until 5 July in this very lively institution, where time nevertheless seems suspended between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
