A Chimera in Chicago

This poem by Jean Lorrain [1]. was directly inspired by Gustave Moreau’s 1867 masterpiece The Chimera, which is now in the Harvard Museum (ill. 1). The painting was reproduced in enamel by Frédéric de Courcy in an oval format, a work exhibited this year by Oscar Graf at Tefaf (see article which has joined the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago (ill. 2).
