A bronze by Constantin Meunier for the Metropolitan

18/10/24 - Acquisitions - New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art has added to its collection of European sculptures an emblematic work by the Belgian sculptor Constantin Meunier, The Dockhand (ill. 1). This piece is all the more important as it is one of the rare bronzes made during Meunier’s lifetime from the wax sculpture he first exhibited at the Salon des XX in Brussels in 1885. It was acquired from Brussels dealer Thomas Deprez, who presented it at the last Tefaf.
