A 14th-century triptych for Prato

19/12/24 - Acquisition - Prato, Museo Civico di Palazzo Pretorio - The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Prato has just donated a fourteenth-century triptych attributed to the Master of Mezzana (Maestro di Mezzana) to the Museo Civico di Palazzo Pretorio. It was acquired from the dealer Flavio Gianassi, who presented it at the Florence Biennale des Antiquaires last September (see article). It will be part of the permanent exhibition from 14 February. The history of this triptych has been documented since the early 1950s. Identified in the collection of the Roman antiquarian Ettore Sestieri, it later passed to the Florentine dealer and collector Carlo de Carlo before being sold as part of his estate in 2003.
